*** Chosen to Grace Qutori Wines 2019 Estate Pinot Noir ***
The second in my series of twinkly stars over the mountains and valley that I call my home. I look at these mountains and this line of trees every single day while painting high above Paonia, Colorado in my home on a mesa overlooking the North Fork Valley . . . and they watch over me at night. The air is fresh, cold and dark in the wee hours, and the stars are like bright jewels in the endless, inky sky.
Make note of the rich, shining green paint I used for the field in the foreground and the deep, jewel-toned colors in the trees and mountains. I added a tiny amount of sparkle in the tree line, and just a hint of it in the sky. The heavy black outline is is standard procedure for my pet portraits, and is reminiscent of stained glass.
